Personal data we collect
We only collect what a form on this site asks you to submit:
- Membership applications: name, email, phone, country, membership category, organisation and any message you add.
- Global Citizen Voice: your name and email address, used to send a one-time verification code, plus the poll answers you submit.
- Contact enquiries: your name, email and message.
- Donations: made entirely on PayPal’s own site, we never receive or store your card or payment details.
Why we use it and our legal basis
- To verify your vote or application and act on it, our legitimate interest in running an accurate poll and membership process.
- To reply to a membership application or enquiry, taking steps at your request before any membership agreement.
- To email a verification code or a thank-you message, with your consent given by submitting the form.
How long we keep it
Verification codes are deleted once used or after they expire. A submitted vote or membership application is kept for as long as it remains relevant to our records, and you can ask us to delete it at any time using the contact details above.
Who we share it with
- MongoDB Atlas, our database host, stores the data described above.
- Mailgun sends verification codes and thank-you emails on our behalf.
- Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a form submission isn’t automated; it may set its own cookie while doing so.
- PayPal processes any donation you choose to make, entirely on its own site and under its own privacy policy.
- We never sell your data or use it for advertising.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct it if it’s inaccurate.
- Delete it, or restrict how we use it.
- Provide it to you in a portable format.
- Stop using it for a particular purpose.
